Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Personal Adviser, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £16.22 - £21.20 per hour

Summary:

The Personal Adviser will provide direct support, guidance and advice to young people aged 16‑25 who are leaving care or are eligible for leaving care services, including former Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC). The post holder will work in partnership with internal and external agencies to help young people develop independence skills, access education, training and employment, secure suitable accommodation, manage their finances and maintain their emotional and physical well‑being. Personal Advisers play a key role in helping care‑experienced young people achieve positive outcomes as they transition to adulthood.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of young people who are leaving care or eligible for support under the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people to promote engagement, confidence and resilience.
  • Contribute to the assessment and development of Pathway Plans, ensuring that young people are fully involved in making decisions about their futures.
  • Review and update Pathway Plans at required intervals and coordinate multi‑agency support to meet identified needs.
  • Provide practical advice and emotional support in relation to housing, finances, employment, health, relationships and independent living skills.
Requirements:
  • Good level of written and spoken English (or Welsh and English where appropriate).
  • Commitment to achieve continuous professional learning / undertake relevant training.
  • Experience of working directly with young people or vulnerable individuals in a supportive or advisory role.
  • Experience building positive, trusting working relationships.
  • Experience working in a multi‑agency or partnership environment.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K.
  • This role requires an enhanced DBS.
