Permanent Consultant in Orthodontics

We are looking to welcome an enthusiastic colleague who will continue to provide excellent care in the enjoyable and friendly atmosphere of our orthodontic department at York and Scarborough Hospitals.

This Consultant post is a full‑time post (10 PAs) based at York Hospital, with a weekly clinical commitment at Scarborough Hospital. We are open to discussion regarding flexible/less‑than‑full‑time working.

The successful candidate will participate in the Orthognathic and Orthodontic/Restorative MDTs and will carry out the full range of orthodontic consultations and treatments appropriate for secondary care.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in Orthognathic and Orthodontic/Restorative multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide the full range of orthodontic consultations and treatments within secondary care.
  • Collaborate with Restorative Dentistry Consultants and Maxillofacial surgeons on joint orthodontic/restorative patients.
  • Supervise, teach, and train specialty orthodontic registrars in collaboration with Leeds Dental Institute.
  • Engage in teaching and research opportunities, supporting the Trust’s research profile.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Entry on the relevant GDC Specialist Register via CCST (proposed CCST date within 6 months of interview) or via passage of the ISFE in Orthodontics (or will successfully sit the ISFE within 6 months of interview).
  • Clinical and academic experience in orthodontics suitable for a secondary care consultant position.

The department is part of the Head and Neck & Plastics Directorate which sits in the Surgery Care Group. It is based in the Head and Neck outpatient department alongside Audiology, ENT, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Restorative Dentistry.
