What will be your role in the company?

The role of Performance Manager is responsible for the management of all safety, reliability, planning and technical support to team on depot. As the Performance Manager, you will oversee and generate all necessary info for client reports and defects analysis, along with other sources of information to maintain safe and reliable vehicles for use in passenger service. As main role in depot this role includes to oversee all production processes. The role may on occasion involve some UK and Europe travel to engage with other CAF projects or suppliers.

Your daily duties will include:

  • Monitoring and reporting of the fleet and materials performance and suggest methods to improve its reliability.
  • Oversee and participate in daily review of in‑service failures and vehicle availability.
  • Ensure with the team the regular review of defective material to establish the root cause.
  • Provide support for the Safety Related Defects (SRDs) management, ensuring the project tracker and is maintained and updated regularly.
  • Oversee and support using GMAO, LeadMind or other sources of data to produce detailed trend analysis of vehicle system and component failures for inclusion in reports or review at technical meetings.
  • Attend daily, weekly, and monthly client meetings as appropriate.
  • Develop relationships and processes with suppliers to ensure warranty issues are addressed expediently and corrective actions are applied.
  • Provide general materials engineering support and problem solving for technical and procurement departments.
  • Oversee and support the vandalism process between CAF and the client.
  • Support in the identification of modifications to improve fleet reliability.
  • Manage and support the Engineering Change process.
  • Oversee and participate in generation of detailed technical investigative reports on significant safety and technical faults.
  • Oversee and participate in the production, management, and the update of reliability and availability data to assist with the customer arbitration process.
  • Oversee and support Production Manager in the priority of repairs, modifications and campaigns, providing supporting documentation as required.
  • Support the training of CAF, client, or maintainer employees.
  • Oversee and participate to ensure all direct reports receive an adequate induction, training plan and training.
  • Develop and maintain a close working relationship with Rail Services After Sales Engineering and other Performance Engineers and Managers through CAF Rail UK.
  • Oversee, control and support all activities carried out by the team reporting to this role.
What will make you successful in this position?

To succeed in this role you will need:

  • HNC/D or above in an Engineering related discipline
  • Experience in a Systems Reliability and Performance role.
  • PC literate with the ability to learn new software programmes quickly
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Proven experience in planning, organising and staff management.
  • Experience writing technical reports
  • Previous experience working in an engineering or rail environment
