Job Overview

We are looking for an inspiring and skilled Percussion Teacher to join our vibrant team and bring percussion to life through engaging lessons that spark curiosity and confidence.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑quality drum kit and percussion lessons to students of all ages and skill levels
  • Plan effective lessons
  • Inspire students to develop a love for music and a lifelong passion for playing percussion
  • Prepare students for performances, competitions, and exams
  • Follow administrative and reporting procedures
  • Commit to 6 hours a week of dedicated one‑to‑one, small‑group, and whole‑class instrumental teaching sessions across a 33‑week school‑term schedule in Kirklees, predominantly in the Colne Valley area, including Friday afternoon/evening Music Centre sessions
  • Support recruitment and timetable development, expanding the teaching portfolio and potentially growing the role into a full‑time equivalent position
  • Recruit students for individual lessons, small group lessons, or whole‑class instrumental teaching sessions
Qualifications
  • Proven experience teaching percussion to students of varying abilities
  • Proficiency in drum kit and auxiliary percussion instruments, and music theory
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiasm for working with children and adults
  • Flexibility to travel to different schools within Kirklees
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion

  • Ability to transport yourself between different schools each working day
