Camden Accessible Travel Solutions (CATS) is the Council’s in-house transport service. CATS sits within Investment, Place and Opportunity Directorate within Camden Council.
CATS is based within York Way Depot, in King’s Cross, London. The service is responsible for a wide range of transport related services including the provision of accessible buses for children and adults, taxi bookings, fleet maintenance, an MOT service, Driver training, fuel provision and manages a range of concessionary travel schemes.
The PCV Drivers are responsible for transporting clients with differing needs from one location to another. The main objective for the PCV Drivers is the safety and comfort of all of their passengers for the duration of their journey. The post holder will drive through local areas and make stops as appropriate to pick up and drop off passengers in line with the planned schedule.
The role will primarily focus on the day-to-day transport service driving large vehicles such as buses and coaches that can accommodate more than 16 passengers, ensuring that all service users are transported safely to and from to school, and or to a day centre. The role also requires individuals to have experience of working with disabled children and / or vulnerable adults and the ability to communicate effectively and undertake physical aspects of the role.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS. Please note Camden also offers the DBS update service.

To be considered for one of these exciting opportunities the successful candidates must have a current PSV (cat D) driving license, (CPC) / Driver Qualification Card (DQC) alongside a validTachograph card.
You will have previous demonstrable experience of working with Special Educational Needs children / Or Vulnerable Adults ranging from infancy to adulthood and working within a busy team within a demanding environment; working to distinct deadlines and timeframes for delivery of work. You will possess an in-depth working knowledge of applying sympathy, empathy and assertiveness to manage a cohort of children whilst being transported. The role requires excellent customer care skills, ensuring that the service is represented to the highest standards at all times.
The ideal candidate will be adept at assessing and managing risk and have an understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices ensuring that all safeguarding policies and procedures are at the forefront of this role.
It is important that the successful candidate is able to provide a safe, reliable drive at all times, ensuring that safety is paramount at all times.
