Overview

Patient Experience Assistant at HMP Winchester, a category B male prison with a capacity of 690 inmates. The role involves engaging with patients and ensuring their journey runs smoothly for 10.5 hours a week.

Hours

Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays 09:00‑12:30 or 13:30‑17:00.

Salary

Annual salary up to £27,582 per annum (pro‑rated for 10.5 hours).

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the improvement and stability of patient engagement activities and patient satisfaction through effective service user engagement and peer led forums, the planning and delivery of projects/programmes in line with patients needs and priorities, involving patients (where possible) in project and training delivery.
• Act as a point of contact and respond to patient engagement enquiries from staff, external partners and patients.
• Ensure statutory and organisational requirements are met, that patient engagement activities are conducted frequently across all sites with timely evaluations and feedback/recommendations communicated with patients, staff and external partners where necessary.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must hold English and Maths at GCSE level C/4 or above or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths (certificate evidence required).

IT competence (Microsoft Office).

A commitment to further training/education and continuous professional development.

Peer representative experience in a criminal justice setting (including health, housing, substance use).

Face‑to‑face engagement experience.
