Job description
Pastoral Mentor

A Pastoral Mentor is needed in a mixed secondary school & sixth form in South West London.

This will be a full‑time long‑term position with scope to go permanent. Working hours will be 8am to 4pm.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting SEN and LAP students in group or whole‑class intervention sessions
  • Working with teachers to ensure each student’s learning needs are identified
  • Attending to students’ social, emotional and personal needs when required
  • Supporting behaviour management and using appropriate strategies in line with academy policy
  • Undertaking learning activities/teaching programmes when needed

The rates of pay for this position are between £82.14 and £100 per day, depending on qualifications and experience.

The School

An ‘Outstanding’ secondary school and sixth form in the London Borough of Merton, serving a wide demographic of pupils and staff from ages 11 to 18.

90% of students continue in education or employment after Key Stage 4. The site has its own dedicated SEN Support Centre and a variety of sports facilities.

Ofsted has noted a positive culture of learning and a strong sense of community.

Requirements

Applications are welcome if you are a graduate or experienced pastoral mentor, and if you are a British‑trained or overseas‑trained mentor.
