S2 Learning Mentor Druids Heath, Birmingham

Part time (2-3 PDW) Ongoing Role Starting 5th January 2025.

Salary: 89 - 110 per day.

We are seeking a KS2 Learning Mentor to join a primary school in Druids Heath, Birmingham, starting on 5th January 2025. This ongoing, part-time role offers a fantastic opportunity to support children in Key Stage 2, particularly those facing challenging behaviours and additional learning needs.

As a Learning Mentor, you will work closely with children to help them overcome barriers to learning, support their behavioural development, and ensure they progress academically. You will play a key role in bringing children up to where they need to be, providing consistent and compassionate support to help them thrive both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to children, particularly those with challenging behaviours
  • Work to engage and motivate children, ensuring they stay on track with their learning and development
  • Support the classroom teacher in adapting learning to meet the individual needs of students
  • Encourage positive behaviour, helping children to develop social and emotional skills
  • Monitor and track students' academic progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents
  • Help students develop their self-esteem, resilience, and confidence, addressing emotional barriers to learning
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support
  • Assist with implementing tailored interventions to support academic and behavioural progress
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with children in KS2, especially those with behavioural or emotional difficulties
  • Strong understanding of strategies to support children with challenging behaviours
  • Patient, compassionate, and resilient, with the ability to build positive relationships with children
  • Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment that supports children's academic progress
  • Good understanding of the primary curriculum and how to differentiate support for individual needs
  • Experience in mentoring or providing pastoral care is highly desirable
