Overview

Campus Safety Assistant — Part time, 12 hours per week. Grade 3 (£22,595.00 - £23,741.80 pro rata), plus an unsocial hours premium.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Estates and Facilities Manager, help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for staff, students, visitors, and contractors.
  • Act as a visible and reassuring presence on campus, representing the University in daily duties.
  • Operate CCTV and door access systems; provide first aid when required.
  • Carry out administrative tasks such as inputting incident and first aid reports, and managing lost property.
  • Conduct regular patrols of both the campus interior and exterior.
Schedule
  • Part Time Campus Safety Assistants scheduled to work 1 x 12-hour shift per 6 days with opportunities to work additional hours as agreed with the Estates and Facilities Manager.
  • Shifts are generally 12-hour shifts on Day Shift (06:00 to 18:00), Mid Shift (10:00 to 22:00), or Night Shift (18:00 to 06:00).
Qualifications
  • Friendly and approachable individual with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a high level of empathy and understanding.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, adapt to changing environments, and mediate challenging situations effectively.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and the ability to work well as part of a team are essential.
