A local government council is looking for a Parking and Transport Officer in Canterbury. The candidate will enforce parking regulations and engage with residents to ensure community safety. Responsibilities include issuing Penalty Charge Notices and maintaining car park quality. In this job, you'll genuinely get to make a difference across the Canterbury District. When you tackle illegal parking, you're helping keep our roads and footpaths safe and easy to use for everyone who lives, works or visits. You’ll also look after our car parks, ensuring they’re welcoming and well-kept for the thousands of people who come to Canterbury each year.
In this role you’ll tackle a variety of tasks. You’ll enforce parking regulations, educate the public to reduce illegal parking across the district, respond to concerns from the community, and regularly check our car parks to ensure they’re up to standard for residents. It’s about keeping things running smoothly and making a real difference for everyone in the area.
37 hours per week, averaged over a 3-week shift pattern. Shifts include 9-hour day shifts with some weekends. Rest days are scheduled during the week on weekends rostered to work. Early shift: 07:45–16:45. Evening shift: 11:45–20:45. Voluntary very early or later evening shifts may be available to maximise enforcement during busy seasonal periods.
This is a role that includes full training around the technical aspects to support learning and development.
