Paralegal - Court of Protection
Location: Brighton & Hove
Salary: 27,000- 28,000 DOE
I'm currently supporting a highly respected law firm in Brighton & Hove that is looking to appoint a Paralegal to join their well-established Court of Protection team. This role is ideal for someone who wants to develop long‑term within a specialist area and gain exposure to both fee‑earning work and broader case management responsibilities.
You'll be joining a supportive team where you'll work closely with senior colleagues and play a key part in ensuring clients receive an exceptional level of care.

Role Overview
  • Assisting senior fee‑earners with ongoing cases
  • Supporting with time recording, WIP management and billing processes
  • Communicating with clients, families, carers and other professionals across multiple channels
  • Helping manage clients' financial and administrative affairs (insurance, benefits, HMRC, invoices, etc.)
  • Organising and maintaining documents to firm standards
  • Handling new enquiries and directing them appropriately
  • Carrying out legal research to support case progression
  • Preparing routine correspondence
  • Liaising with external suppliers and obtaining quotes
  • Assisting with budgeting and account reconciliations
  • Supporting team marketing and networking activities
Candidate Profile

My client is looking for someone who offers:

  • Experience within Court of Protection or a closely related legal environment (essential)
  • A law degree is advantageous but not essential
  • Strong communication skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • The ability to thrive in a busy environment and manage competing tasks
  • A proactive, collaborative working style
  • A compassionate and patient approach, especially when working with individuals affected by brain injuries or other significant conditions
