Packaging Technologist
  • Location: Coventry or Seaham
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum

Join our New Product Development (NPD) team as a Packaging Technologist. This role is essential in supporting packaging development to understand consumer and customer needs, ensuring our packaging meets technical requirements. This position significantly contributes to delivering commercial growth and competitive advantage for Mission Foods products.

Day-to-day of the role
  • Manage relationships with design houses to support the development of good practice, improve the printing process, and ensure high quality of reprographics.
  • Brief artworks, create and maintain cutter guides, coordinate packaging redesign projects on current SKUs, and manage new film changeovers on site.
  • Support the NPD process by bringing new products to market with trials and transit support, managing timelines for packaging printing and introduction on site.
  • Address day-to-day issues with site packaging, supporting Quality Assurance (QA) and operations.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of our packaging products to enhance operational line efficiency and product efficacy.
  • Ensure all existing packaging is fit for purpose and compliant with technical and legal requirements, with specifications developed and held electronically for easy access.
  • Deliver packaging cost-savings and rationalisation projects.
  • Build supplier relationships to increase our knowledge of industry trends, competitors, and innovation capabilities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Degree in a relevant field, ideally with a packaging qualification.
  • Significant experience in NPD Packaging within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of technical and legal packaging requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle a challenging environment.
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
