Overview

Out of Hours Assistant
Grade 1 £24,796 pro rata
10 hours per week, term time only
Temporary – required from 3 November 2025 (or as soon as possible thereafter) until 31 August 2026

We are seeking to appoint an Out of Hours Assistant to work in our wraparound provision. Working hours are 3.30 – 5.30pm Monday to Thursday, term time only. There may be a need in the future to extend this to a Friday too. We are looking for a warm and caring individual to support our wrap around care facility at our school.

Responsibilities
  • Safeguard children during after school wraparound.
  • Prepare and assist with activities for the children on site.
  • Prepare and supervise snack.
Requirements / What we are looking for
  • Be able to build a strong and appropriate rapport with children.
  • Demonstrate the aptitude to work as part of a successful team.
  • Have effective communication skills.
  • Be able to support children in their play, while maintaining the children's safety and following the school's behaviour guidelines.
  • Be able to demonstrate good food hygiene practices and follow the school health and safety policies.
  • The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

Payroll and leave

Standard term time only pay is calculated on the basis of: 38 teaching weeks, plus 1.6 weeks for public holidays, plus 5.4 or 6.4 weeks of annual leave depending on length of service. For example:

Less than 5 years’ service: 38 weeks (+ 27 days annual leave) + 8 days public holidays = 45 weeks pay, paid in 12 equal monthly instalments. More than 5 years’ service: 38 weeks (+ 32 days annual leave) + 8 days public holidays = 46 weeks pay, paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.
