A leading technology recruitment firm is seeking an experienced Operational Technology Engineer for an initial 9-month contract in the UK. The role focuses on improving performance for business-critical Operational Applications, authorizing infrastructure developments, and mentoring technical engineers. Ideal candidates will have expertise in GE Vernova PowerOn, SCADA, and ODMS systems. This position is a hybrid role with remote work and occasional office days. Competitive inside IR35-Umbrella rate offered.
Operational Technology (OT) Engineer / SME
initial 9 months (2-5 year programme)
£1000 per Inside IR35-Umbrella only
Edinburgh - remote with occasional days in the office per month
OT Application Performance Improvement: Responsible for the continual performance improvement of the business-critical Operational Applications. This work includes improving monitoring and management of operational systems to reduce the number of faults that cause disruptions to the customer's service and developing a Strategic Asset Management Plan for the OT Applications and Infrastructure.
Design Authority for development of OT Infrastructure: Responsible for authorising developments in current OT infrastructure working with the Application suppliers, SSE IT, Neos Networks and the SSE customer to develop, test and authorise any changes to architecture of existing Platinum, Gold and Silver level OT Applications.
Approval of Operational Application Upgrades: Responsible for authorising the completion of Operational Acceptance Testing for the infrastructure for the business-critical OT Applications. This includes approval of handover into support and approval of key no / no-go decisions.
Development of RTS Technical Engineers: Provide a development environment for ensuring that the RTS Technical Engineers have sufficient technical and application knowledge to be able to provide a robust Support Service and Project Engineering service for the portfolio of Operational Applications.
Technical Expertise: Maintain and continuously develop their own technical and procedural expertise to set the standards for others to follow. This work includes maintaining a technical and procedural expertise for the Platinum, Gold and Silver level OT Applications such as PowerOn, PI and ODMS, attending appropriate technical forums and contributing to the processes that develop documentation and technical standards.
Fault Analysis: The post holder will mentor the RTS Technical Engineers and work with the Operational Application internal and external service providers to investigate and resolve serious Operational Application issues in line with the Service Level Agreements that are in place with each customer.
