Job Role:

Order Picker/Warehouse Operative

Location:

Chesterfield (S44), Derbyshire

Reports To:

Warehouse Supervisor / Shift

Working Hours:

17:30 - 01:30 (Sunday start + 4 weekdays)

Pay:

£14.47/hour (standard), £21.70/hour (overtime 40+ hrs/week)

Purpose of the role

To efficiently and accurately pick orders and perform warehouse duties across frozen, chilled, and ambient storage areas. Operate shunting wagon for moving trailers within the yard, ensuring compliance with health & safety, food hygiene, and operational procedures.

Employee Responsibilities
  • Pick and pack customer orders accurately and timely using warehouse systems.
  • Work across frozen, chilled, and ambient temperature zones.
  • Load and unload vehicles following safety guidelines.
  • Operate shunting wagon for trailer movement within company premises.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the warehouse.
  • Follow all relevant health & safety and food hygiene policies.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational targets.
Essential Qualifications
  • Full UK driving licence (required for shunting duties).
  • Ability to work in cold and varying temperature environments.
  • Willingness and availability to work Sunday starts and weekdays shifts.
  • Physically capable of manual handling and warehouse tasks.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Prior warehouse or order picking experience.
  • Experience operating yard vehicles or shunting wagons.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards.
Working Conditions
  • Shift pattern: 17:30 - 01:30, Sunday start followed by 4 weekday shifts.
  • Paid 30-minute break each shift, with additional rest breaks provided.
  • Work across multiple temperature zones (ambient, chilled, frozen).
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Safety boots and high visibility clothing (mandatory).
  • Freezer clothing supplied for cold storage areas.
