A healthcare services provider is looking for an Ophthalmic Training Lead to coordinate student placements, lead clinical training, and ensure high-quality patient care. Job summary
The Ophthalmic Training Lead has a pivotal role in maintaining excellent partnerships with course providers and the coordination of student placement requirements, as well as leading the provision of training/development of the clinical team and maintenance of the volunteer programme. The Ophthalmic Training Lead works closely with the departmental leads to assist with managing the efficient and safe running of our Theatre and Outpatient services, and deputises in their absence. The role comprises clinical and non-clinical duties, 3:1 respectively. Clinical duties are across the service on both sites; diagnostics, pre- and post-op assessments, admission, discharge, theatre duties, including scrub, and part of the advisory on-call team. Non-clinical duties include oversight of clinical activity and staffing, incident investigations, clinical triage, line management, support and mentorship for the team, volunteers and students. The outpatient and theatre services are staffed by a mixed clinical team of registered Ophthalmic Nurses, ODPs and non-registered Scrub Technicians, Ophthalmic Technicians, Senior Ophthalmic Assistants, and Ophthalmic Assistants, made up of contracted and flexible bank staff. These staff also rotate across the service on both sites.
The Ophthalmic Training Lead offers professional and clinical support/guidance across the services and provision of high-quality patient care and assistance to a range of clinicians: Consultants, Specialist Doctors, Optometrists, Nurse Consultants and Advanced Nurse Practitioners, along with assurances to the Clinical Service Manager, Clinical Director and Operations Director.
