Operations Sort Manager AM
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Thursday 02:00 - 13:00

Key responsibilities
- Manage and direct the Outbound/Inbound sort and ramp operations; direct, develop, lead and revise the implementation of Contingency Plans.
- Support and engage with QCC, SQ, Engineering, Health & Safety, C&L Departments, HAL airport authorities, Customs and Security.
- Develop business continuity in regard to C&L, ACS, NCC, EMA Hub, SDC (Southern Hub) and other stakeholders as required.
- Ensure awareness of policies and rules, maintain commitment on Quality and Environmental Systems, identify and promote continuous improvements aligning with Company strategies on quality and environment.
- Compile all relevant reports including daily reports for Senior Operations Managers.
- Maintain clear communication with NCC, C&L, SQ, Sort Control and Process Engineering (EMA, BRU, LEJ, and LHR).
- Monitor flight schedules and coordinate with other departments to ensure timely handling of freight, particularly during delays or schedule changes.
- Deputise for Senior Operations Manager.
- Ensure any potential security breaches or concerns are brought to the attention of supervisor/manager without delay.
- Investigate and close out any IQSMS / GRID findings using First Choice tools (e.g., Impact, 5 Why's).
- Analyse operational performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Fully support and manage the disciplinary process in accordance with disciplinary procedures.
- Proactively monitor performance and conduct to address any shortfalls or any unacceptable behaviour.
- Apply CIM methodologies into the everyday workplace, with a focus on respect and results.
- Define development plans, outline expectations, identify training needs, conduct monthly 1-2-1s with direct reports and ensure 1-2-1 completion for all staff in the operation.
- Build and develop a team ethos across all shifts by embracing DHL 21st Century Manager concept.
- Develop a culture of high efficiency and satisfaction amongst all employees (EOS).
- Take accountability for ensuring H&S compliance, attending relevant company forums, and ensuring First Choice tools are used (such as GEMBA walks and Performance Dialogue Boards) to reduce the risk of H&S issues through effective communication and risk management.
- Ensuring that work practices & procedures are carried out safely, to create and maintain a thriving safety-first culture.
- Ensure all roles have SSOW allocated to their tasks, in partnership with the H&S department.
- You must follow the relevant safe systems of work and ensure that the correct PPE is always worn.

- Sound knowledge of commercial airline operations at LHR.
- Sound knowledge of DHL network operations at LHR.
- Qualified to minimum of Dangerous Goods category 10 preferred.
