Job summary

A leading waste management company is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee HWRC operations and manage compliance with relevant legislation. You will lead teams, drive productivity, and ensure high standards of service. The ideal candidate will have a COTC in Waste Management, experience in team leadership, and a strong understanding of health and safety legislation. Qualifications

Operations Manager

Salary – £40,662 - £50,828 per annum (plus benefits)
Hours – 40 hours per week
Location & Postcode – Wilmington, HU8 8AU

As an Operations Manager at FCC Environment, you will lead the HWRC teams and work closely with all departments to ensure that site and company objectives are met. You will be responsible for the safe and legal operation of HWRCs and the fleet, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and contractual requirements.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week.

What will you be doing?
  • Lead the HWRC and Transport teams to achieve high standards of customer service and operational safety
  • Manage budgets, drive productivity, and ensure effective use of resources
  • Oversee compliance with waste management licences, planning permissions, and company policies
  • Prepare and review risk assessments, operational procedures, and reports
  • Investigate customer complaints and implement improvements
  • Ensure all vehicle and fleet operations comply with legal and company requirements
  • Manage staff rotas, inductions, training, and employee relations
  • Coordinate transport requirements to ensure recycling and waste containers are always available
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all paperwork is completed properly
What are we looking for?
  • COTC (or equivalent) in Waste Management
  • CPC Transport Manager
  • ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management (or equivalent)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience managing and/or supervising multiple sites and a fleet of vehicles
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety and Waste legislation
  • Strong leadership, communication, and people skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively and add value to decision-making
  • Strong numeracy and IT skills
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and a team player
  • Waste management experience (desirable)
