Operations Manager

Salary: Competitive plus bonus, company car & pension

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week

What you'll be doing
  • Ensure the cost effective management of the services on the Bromley contract, including two Transfer Stations and two HWRCs.
  • Manage a circa 30 employee workforce.
  • Ensure the sites have competent operational staff who feel empowered and motivated.
  • Ensure staff are fully trained and identify areas of training needed.
  • Ensure KPIs are met to ensure financial penalties are not applied.
  • Responsible for the safety of the workforce and ensuring a safety first culture is at the centre of activities and all HR processes are adhered to.
  • Ensure material is dispatched as per waste flow requirements.
  • Maximise and fully utilise the fixed and mobile plant on site.
  • Ensure the budget is met, reviewed and costs are monitored.
  • Ensure compliance on the contract.
  • Work to reduce absence, accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure effective management of any defects and ensure that all damage to property and vehicles is reported promptly.
  • Maintain and evolve a partnership approach with council officers and the wider Veolia regional team acting as a key contact and deputising for the Senior Contract Manager, as required.
What we're looking for

Essential:

  • Experience of people management, developing and training teams.
  • IOSH and good working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
  • Experience within waste transfer services & the waste industry.
  • COTC (Certificate of Technical Competence) Transfer Hazardous.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • IT literate with experience using operational management systems.
