Job description

We are seeking an Operations Manager to support our SZC portfolio within the Energy Division. This is a pivotal role in delivering one of the most complex and significant infrastructure projects in the UK: the construction of a new nuclear power station, contributing to the nation's Net Zero carbon target. This undertaking brings unique challenges, and your expertise will be essential in ensuring that our operational processes run seamlessly and efficiently. As Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in both people leadership and operational delivery. You will lead and develop a growing team, ensuring their wellbeing, capability development, and career progression, all aligned with Amentum's core values. Acting as a key link between the SZC portfolio and our central operational team, you will ensure that processes and procedures are implemented consistently and effectively. Your responsibilities will span recruitment and onboarding, mobilisation, vetting, and off‑boarding. You will enable line managers, and maintain strong connections with corporate functions to ensure smooth operations. Additionally, you will foster engagement through team briefs, social activities, and initiatives that keep our people connected and motivated.

Responsibilities
  • Drive recruitment and resourcing, including interviews and candidate selection.
  • Oversee mobilisation, onboarding, vetting, and off‑boarding activities.
  • Coordinate team development: maintain capabilities, manage training, and oversee career progression.
  • Support promotions and enable effective line management of seconded team members.
  • Coordinate team briefs, engagement activities, and social events.
  • Ensure compliance with Amentum processes and procedures across the portfolio.
  • Act as the primary link to the central operational team and corporate functions.
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, quality, and governance requirements.
  • Hybrid working is available; however, weekly attendance at the London office is essential.
Qualifications
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong background in team development and recruitment, with an understanding of technical roles.
  • Proven leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Ability to think strategically and deliver business objectives.
  • Sound understanding of financial and commercial aspects of operations management.
  • Exceptional communication skills across all levels.
