Job Title : Operations Manager – FRA / Fire Stopping

Location : Essex

Salary : £75,000 – £85,000 + Package

Overview

A leading construction contractor is seeking an experienced Contract Manager on a FRA / Fire Stopping Contract. The role will be to oversee the delivery of fire safety compliance works across residential projects in Essex / London. The successful candidate will manage fire risk assessment (FRA) remedial works, passive fire protection, and fire stopping programmes.

This is a pivotal role requiring in-depth knowledge of fire safety legislation and accreditation standards, alongside strong leadership, financial oversight, and contract management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of FRA remedial and fire stopping works
  • Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, and other statutory regulations
  • Coordinate subcontractors, consultants, and specialist passive fire protection teams
  • Control project budgets, track forecasts, and deliver cost-efficient solutions
  • Conduct site inspections, oversee snagging, and manage handover procedures
  • Maintain ongoing communication and engagement with residents throughout project lifecycles
  • Produce accurate project documentation, reports, and maintain full audit trails
  • Liaise with internal compliance, housing, and asset teams
  • Ensure works adhere to FIRAS, BM Trada, or equivalent third-party certification standards
  • Collaborate with fire risk assessors and building control to secure signoffs and certifications
Requirements
  • Extensive experience managing fire stopping and FRA remedial works, ideally within a social housing environment and construction industry knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of passive fire protection systems and current fire safety legislation
  • FIRAS or BM Trada accreditation is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in project and contract management.
  • Recognised qualifications such as NEBOSH, SMSTS, or equivalent project / construction safety credentials
  • Exceptional organisational, communication, and client management skills
