Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the successful candidate to lead our on-site alternative provision (The Link). Working as a key member of our curriculum leadership team, you will have the chance to shape the future of young people with SEMH needs. You will lead a team which includes a classroom teacher, 2 Higher Level Teaching Assistants and a Teaching Assistant.

The provision and school

Lawnswood School is a thriving school with strong leadership and a dedicated and supportive team of staff. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, a "can do" mentality, and the drive and determination to ensure that vulnerable students with whom you work can overcome barriers to learning and progress; helping to keep them safe, happy and successful throughout their time with us.

The Link is a large provision made up of two dedicated spaces. The Key Stage 3 provision has capacity for approximately 12 students, with the aim of supporting their return to mainstream education and ensuring they are ready for Key Stage 4 study. The Key Stage 4 provision has capacity for approximately 20 students, who are taught the core and SRE curriculum within the provision, delivered by specialist teachers, mixed with sessions out at local colleges. Your experience in supporting students with SEMH needs will be key; as such, the role offers a professional challenge and a rewarding opportunity to be part of an inclusive school with a leadership team who are highly committed to improving the mental health and wellbeing of young people.

Safeguarding and equality

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointments will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. If shortlisted, you will be required to disclose relevant information regarding criminal history and an online search will be conducted. This includes only information publicly available online. We promote diversity and want a workforce which reflects the population of Leeds.

Employment eligibility

Employment is conditional on confirmation of the right to work in the UK - either as a UK or Irish citizen, under the EU settlement scheme or having secured any other relevant work visa. Lawnswood School is not registered with the UK Government to offer visa sponsorship.
