Occupational Health Case Manager

We are seeking two OH case managers to join an established team. This is an exciting opportunity as the Occupational Health Service is expanding to provide OH services across University Hospitals Sussex. The main base of the department is a short walk from the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

The post‑holder(s) will undertake case work appointments for health clearance of new staff and staff referred to OH by their manager, providing expert and evidence‑based OH advice to UHSussex staff and managers. The post‑holder(s) will work autonomously and as part of the OH team. The successful candidates should be available to start on 1st April 2026.

Person Specification
  • RGN with experience in case management
  • Experience of providing advice on fitness for work, reasonable adjustments, applicability of Equality Act etc.
  • Ability to work flexibly in line with the demands of the service
  • Good organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Ability to make decisions, prioritise and work autonomously within clinical supervision parameters
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to produce high quality OH reports
  • Experience of working within an NHS OH Service
Main duties of the job

To work as a specialist autonomous practitioner, managing own caseload.

  • Responsible and accountable for specialist advice given to managers and staff.
  • To assess fitness to work and provide recommendations including adjustments and advice, taking into account disability under the Equality Act 2010.
  • Recognise where further advice is required and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Request medical reports where identified additional information is required.
  • Maintain accurate written/typed records.
  • Produce accurate typed reports following OH assessments.
