Job description

The Building Services Engineer is key in providing a design engineering service. The Building Services Engineer is responsible for the production of discipline specific design and engineering deliverables to support the project. The Engineer is principally a hands‑on design‑based role with a degree of team leadership. The Engineer is responsible for delivering a package of work within a project within their discipline. Frequent liaison with other disciplines in the design team and the client would be expected. The engineers are the main interface between senior management and hands‑on design.

Responsibilities
  • Development of designs to satisfy the technical specification
  • Production of design deliverables throughout the design process
  • Checking of basic design calculations
  • Contribution to design reviews and safety reviews
  • Preparation of technical specifications
  • Preparation of installation, commissioning, and operating documents
  • Ensuring quality and timely delivery of design documentation throughout all phases of the design process
  • Compliance with safety and statutory regulations
  • Develop cost effective technical solutions
  • Provide support during Site surveys, installation and commissioning.
Occupational Skills and Knowledge
  • HNC (minimum) in a relevant technical / engineering discipline or demonstrable experience
  • Associate membership of a discipline specific engineering institution
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals within your engineering discipline
  • Previous experience in the design of Building Services (inc: Ventilation and piped services)
  • Good understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulations
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Knowledge and experience of design software (Typically AutoCAD or similar).
Desirable
  • Degree Qualified in a relevant technical/engineering discipline
  • Experience in the nuclear industry
  • Management of design teams in the technical delivery of projects
  • Management of sub‑contractors
  • Knowledge and use of REVIT software
  • Knowledge and use of IESVE design software
  • Construction Site experience.
