Job description

Edinburgh College is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to take up the exciting post of Nursery Support Worker.

Your duties will include:

  • Contribute to planning and assessment using observations gained from the children in the playroom. This means that you attend planning meetings and contribute to planning and evaluation.
  • To act as a support for Keyworkers – you will be given a number of children’s PLP’s to contribute to under the supervision of the main Keyworker. The number of these is at the discretion of the Room Senior.
  • Key support during lunch and snack times, with serving and clearing tables and dishes and ensuring the kitchens are left clean and tidy.
  • Undertake personal care for children as required.
  • Be a part of the room team. This means working with other colleagues to ensure that children receive the best care and attention and learning experiences we can provide.
  • Use all resources at your disposal to provide stimulating learning experiences for the children in your care.
  • To reflect on your own practice and consider how to update and improve your skills. Self-evaluation is a vital part of all nursery care roles.
  • Contribute to the self-evaluation process of the room and nursery as a whole. Understand the frameworks and policies which are part of your SSSC registration.
  • The successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made.

We operate a guaranteed interview scheme and open this to BME groups, people living with a disability, the care experienced and Armed forces veterans - if you meet the essential criteria, you will automatically be selected for an interview.

Please note that the successful candidate(s) may be required to work at any Edinburgh College campus.
