A prominent garden center company is seeking an experienced Nursery Manager to oversee the operations of their nursery in Howden. Job Title: Nursery Manager
Location: Howden
Salary: Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and passionate Nursery Manager to oversee all aspects of the day-to-day running of our nursery. You will lead a dedicated team and ensure high operational standards and customer satisfaction.

Job Description
  • Coordinate the production plan of plants grown across a 2-acre nursery. The nursery grows predominantly Hardy Ornamental Stock, across polytunnels, glass and outdoor space.
  • Manage the nursery team, while minimising production and labour costs and maintaining high quality standards.
  • Oversee the day-to-day nursery operations including:
    • Organisation of workload.
    • Potting and general plant care.
    • Stock control.
    • Crop protection.
    • Monitoring pest control.
    • Maintenance of nursery facilities and equipment.
    • Inspect and clean plants ready for despatch.
    • Assist in the general maintenance of the plant nursery.
  • Coordinate the induction, training and coaching of the nursery team.
  • Liaising with buying team and operations team for the supply of plants.
  • Ensure the plant nursery meets all health and safety regulations.
  • Manage the small logistics operation associated with the plant nursery.
Experience Desired
  • Previous experience working in a commercial nursery environment, with an understanding of the pressures and challenges that come with a nursery role.
  • Supervisory experience in some capacity would be beneficial.
  • Ideally a qualification in Horticulture, your PA1 and PA6, but we can train you if not.
  • An understanding of logistics or a willingness to learn.
  • A drive to develop your career – there is huge potential at this site and exciting career prospects for the right person.
