Job description

As an Early Years Assistant, you will be working as either a key worker or relief Early Years Assistant looking after the daily needs of children between the ages of 2 and 4 yrs within the Nursery and Pre-School setting including liaising with parents and other family members,

Responsibilities
  • Ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children, formulating and operating a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children attending the Nursery and Pre-School, in conjunction with other team members and your Line Manager.
  • To institute reviews for parents in conjunction with the Nursery Management Team. Prepare the children's records of achievement and their daily sheets for parents. To accurately record all data and pass on information given by parents. To work alongside parents of special needs children to achieve full integration where possible into the Early Years.
  • To ensure the provision of high quality, inclusive care to meet the needs of all children as individuals and to acknowledge their stages of development.
  • To assist with the maintenance, cleanliness and hygiene in the Early Years and to see that it is carried out in a satisfactory manner; including reporting any matters which you deem significant as to the safety, fabric and decoration of the building and its contents.
  • To prepare or assist in preparing long, medium and short-term goals for each child in your care and to carry out reviews.
  • To ensure mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing, adult led, with politeness to all.
  • To ensure the frequent and regular washing and changing of children depending on their needs and Early Years policies.
  • To provide warmth and comfort to poorly children and to ensure management is notified.
  • To undertake domestic jobs (for example preparation of snacks, sometimes meals and cleansing of apparatus) in the course of daily operations.
