Job summary

A leading defence and engineering organisation in the UK is seeking a Nuclear Safety Case Engineer to join a long-term programme in the nuclear sector. The role involves writing safety documentation, supporting periodic reviews, and working closely with engineering and safety teams. Candidates with a background in nuclear safety and experience in regulated industries are preferred. This position offers a permanent contract with remote work flexibility, requiring occasional visits to Cumbria.

Qualifications

• Background in nuclear safety, safety case development, or substantiation work.
• Experience in a regulated or high-hazard industry (nuclear, defence, etc.).
• Confident producing well-structured technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Writing and reviewing nuclear substantiation and safety case documentation.
• Supporting periodic reviews and safety case implementation.
• Leading on deliverables and contributing to the wider team’s development.

Copello are working with a leading defence and engineering organisation to recruit a Nuclear Safety Case Engineer to join a long-term programme at the forefront of the UK’s nuclear sector.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working in high-integrity, regulated environments and wants to take real ownership of key safety deliverables. You’ll be part of a team that directly supports the development and ongoing assurance of nuclear safety cases — working closely with Engineering, Human Factors and Site Safety teams to keep standards high and the plant safe.
