Job description

Overview

Under the direction of an authorized radiologist, this position performs all types of nuclear medicine imaging procedures and therapy on patients as requested by physicians.

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions):

  • Communicates with supervisor or designee about any unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, and departmental needs.
  • Confers with a radiologist on unclear procedure orders before proceeding with the exam.
  • Documents receipts, returns, and disposals of radioactive materials in accordance with NRC and DOT regulations.
  • Orders radiopharmaceuticals as needed.
  • Performs nuclear medicine imaging procedures using Gamma cameras and departmental protocols.
  • Verifies patient identity and explains procedures prior to exams.
  • Performs daily surveys, calibration checks, and quality control procedures as outlined in manuals.
  • Prepares assays and administers radiopharmaceuticals following NRC and ISBH regulations.
  • Completes necessary documentation after exams and forwards to radiologists.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in all Nuclear Medicine procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently, under stress, and in a team.
  • Registered by ARRT and/or NMTCB.
  • Indiana State License.

Education:

  • Bachelor's in Allied Health-Nuclear Medicine preferred.
  • Experience in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine preferred.
  • Certified Nuclear Med Tech.
  • Certified in CPR.
