Job description
Job Overview

Due to maternity leave, we have an exciting 12‑month opportunity for an NMP or Pharmacist Prescriber to join our Wiltshire integrated community drug and alcohol service. The role is based at our Connect Service and is full‑time (35 hours per week) but can be arranged as part‑time, job‑share or full‑time. Travel to Swindon at least twice a month may be required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide opiate substitute treatment (OST) interventions, benzodiazepine reductions, alcohol and opiate detoxifications and relapse prevention medications.
  • Support health care assessments, administer detoxification medication, administer pabrinex, complete alcohol and opiate detoxification assessments.
  • Provide Blood Borne Virus (BBV) screening and vaccinations.
  • Work closely with mental health, physical health and social care services to create a collaborative approach.
  • Attend local prescriber meetings, one‑to‑one clinical supervision and national prescriber/clinician meetings for continuous professional development.
  • Help shape service delivery and contribute to clinically excellent services.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council or a qualified Pharmacist and already a qualified independent prescriber.
  • Experience managing all aspects of prescribing for opiates and managing alcohol detoxifications.
  • Excellent communicator, highly organised, ability to develop flexible and tailored support packages.
  • Empathy, understanding, patience, and a genuine interest in helping people with diverse needs.
  • Confidence in working in a busy service with available resources and support.
Training & Support

Full training and supervision will be provided by our Clinical Services Manager, Clinical Lead, Turning Point Head of Nursing and Head of Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Services. Access to RCNi for revalidation, indemnity insurance and ongoing support.
