Job Overview

Would you like to work in an organisation that sits in the top 10 best NHS Mental Health, Learning Disability and Community Services Trust to work for. This ranking is based on staff feedback in the 2023 NHS Staff Survey.

Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SaBP) is an ambitious provider of mental health, drug and alcohol and learning disability services for people of all ages in Surrey and north east Hampshire. We provide a broad range of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency community services, early intervention and detection programmes, as well as highly specialised therapy and inpatient treatment. Our high-quality care focuses on enabling people to live well with their conditions and to work towards recovery.

We are looking to appoint a Non‑Executive Director who is an experienced senior educational leader with a particular focus on schools. You will provide insight and support to our mental health delivery in schools, and across the children and young peoples' clinical pathway. You will be key to helping us look beyond the boundaries of our Trust and build relationships and partnerships with our community and across a broad range of public, voluntary and social enterprise sector organisations. Your alignment with our values and ability to think strategically will be key and of equal importance with your experience to help shape our services.

Main Duties of the Job

We are an inclusive employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds, and from those with personal lived experience or experience of caring for a family member, to ensure that our Board reflects the diversity of our communities and encourages diversity of thought. We recognise that people can sometimes be put off applying for a job unless they think they match every requirement: don't let that hold you back. If you are excited about the role, think you can do much of what we have described but aren't sure if you are quite who we are looking for, please do get in touch and contact our recruitment Team.

This role is a public appointment and not subject to the provisions of employment law.

NHS boards play a key role in shaping the strategy, vision and purpose of an organisation. They hold the organisation to account for the delivery of strategy and ensure value for money. They are also responsible for assuring that risks to the organisation and the public are managed and mitigated effectively.

Led by an independent Chair and composed of a mixture of both Executive and independent Non‑Executive members, the Board has a collective responsibility for the performance of the organisation.
