Overview

Night Support Worker — Location: Cranborne, Dorset

Hourly rate: £12.37 - £13.49 + £25 per night shift worked (approx. an additional £4,000 per year)

Annual Salary: £28,141.75 - £30,689.75

Contract: full-time — we have 1 x permanent, and 1 x 12 month fixed term contract available

Hours: 7.45pm–8.15am, 4 on 4 off shifts — average of 43.75 hours per week.

Teaching Personnel have an exciting opportunity working with a large SEN College. They are looking for a full-time Night Support Worker. The College supports young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who have additional social, emotional and mental health needs, by preparing them for adult life and facilitating their transition into further education, training or employment.

Key duties
  • Ensure that all young people receive a high standard of care and live in a safe, clean and homely environment.
  • Ensure that each young person is treated as an individual.
  • Ensure that the health needs of the young people are met at all times.
  • Take responsibility for the shift including making decisions regarding staffing levels and allocation in the absence of the Night Team Manager.
  • Complete regular supervisions and support the process of formal performance review.
  • Ensure Keyworker responsibilities are carried out.
  • Take team meetings once a month.
  • Keep records accurate and up-to-date to inform reviews and development plans for the individual, including documentation relating to learning, behaviour and well-being outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Willingness to participate, be positive and creative in meeting our young person’s needs.
  • Able to support and develop independence skills such as budgeting, cooking, housekeeping as well as accessing the wider community.
  • Ability to prompt / encourage in a positive manner whilst providing social/emotional/behavioural support.
  • Ability to show a strong understanding of what “good care” looks like and how to put the young person’s needs first, whilst empowering them to be independent.
  • Due to rural location, access to transport and a driver's licence is essential.
  • Given the age of the students all applicants must be 21 and over.
