Night Shift Manager

Salary : £40,000 per year

Hours : 11 : 00pm – 9 : 00am (4 on / 4 off or confirm shift pattern)

Location : Norwich, NR6

Contract : 3 months FTC

Winner Recruitment is working with a major national logistics and parcel distribution business to recruit an experienced Night Shift Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident overseeing a busy overnight operation.

You’ll be responsible for managing the night shift team, ensuring operational standards, safety procedures, and service targets are consistently met. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain control of the operation during peak night hours.

The Role

As Night Shift Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the night operation, ensuring freight is processed correctly, vehicles are turned around efficiently, and compliance standards are followed at all times. You’ll lead the night team to deliver consistent performance while maintaining a safe and secure working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all night-shift warehouse and transport operations
• Ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety, security, and company procedures
• Manage attendance, holidays, and absence records for night-shift staff
• Lead evening de-brief, ensuring consignments are correctly processed and coded
• Ensure all customer collections and returns are completed and processed to standard
• Monitor vehicle return times to ensure freight meets trunk departure schedules
• Maintain control of ‘to be called for’ freight and the Hold Bay
• Ensure Opsys (or relevant system) is used correctly and all freight is accounted for
• Support the Operations Manager and Site Manager with operational tasks when required
• Conduct appraisals and performance discussions with night-shift team members
• Challenge unauthorised visitors and ensure security protocols are followed
• Promote a positive, respectful, and professional culture during night operations

• Experience in a warehouse, logistics, transport, or parcel distribution environment
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team on night shift
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A proactive, hands‑on approach to problem‑solving
• Good understanding of operational systems and data
• Ability to manage performance, maintain compliance, and uphold safety standards
• A confident decision‑maker who thrives working independently at night
• A degree is desirable but not essential if you have solid operational experience.
