A leading retirement village provider in Teignbridge is seeking a reliable Night Porter / First Responder for Saturday nights. You will ensure the safety and well-being of residents during the night, monitoring CCTV, responding to emergencies, and maintaining security protocols. The ideal candidate will have a driving license and be comfortable working alone overnight. Training will be provided.

Job description
Shift: Saturdays, 4:00pm - 8:00am (16 hours)

Type: Waking shift, with sleep period between 10:00pm - 6:00am (during lock-up)

The Priory Retirement Village in Abbotskerswell is looking for a reliable and proactive Night Porter / First Responder to work Saturday nights only.

You will be the first point of contact overnight, ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of our residents. This role combines elements of security, customer service, and emergency response.

What you'll be doing:

  • Maintaining a watchful, waking presence until 10pm, with an on-site sleep period until 6am (during lock-up)
  • Monitoring CCTV, completing regular building and grounds checks, and recording any incidents or defects
  • Responding promptly to call bells and any emergency situations
  • Ensuring the welfare and safety of residents and staff at all times
  • Managing any situations safely and efficiently, following established procedures
  • Being fully confident in fire safety protocols, including carrying out a full evacuation if required
  • Understanding and implementing all Health & Safety, Fire, and Emergency procedures
  • Reporting any accidents, hazards, or incidents to the management team promptly

Essential requirements:

  • Comfortable working alone overnight
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Confident and able to respond to fire alarms and first aid situations (full training will be provided)

Desirable skills & experience:

  • First Aid trained
  • Fire safety trained
  • Previous experience in a similar role
