Responsibilities

  • Provide a specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to clients recovering from stroke.
  • Work closely with the Early Supported Discharge (ESD) service and multidisciplinary team.
  • Manage and prioritise a demanding and complex clinical caseload with confidence.
  • Offer advice and support to clients and carers dealing with post-stroke difficulties.
  • Assess the need for alternative communication aids and deliver training.

What you will do
  • Provide a specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to clients recovering from stroke, showcasing your expertise in managing acquired disorders of communication and swallowing.
  • Work closely with the Early Supported Discharge (ESD) service, stroke, and neuro pathways by collaborating with the inpatient stroke and neuro multidisciplinary team.
  • Manage and prioritise a demanding and complex clinical caseload with confidence and precision.
  • Offer advice and support to clients, carers, and volunteers dealing with communication and swallowing difficulties post‑stroke and other neurological conditions.
  • Assess the need for alternative and augmentative communication aids, ensuring clients maintain or improve independence, and deliver pertinent training to clients and carers.
Requirements
  • Hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy, accompanied by HCPC registration.
  • Possess recent UK or NHS post‑qualifying experience as a Speech and Language Therapist, ensuring familiarity with the healthcare environment and patient needs.
