Overview

NHS Lothian Pharmacy & Medicine Service – Staff Bank – Band 4 Pharmacy Technician

NHS Lothian covers Edinburgh City, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian. We are the second largest health system in NHS Scotland and one of only four Teaching Boards. We have strategic partnerships with Local Universities, Local Authorities and our four Integration Joint Boards. We serve a population of 900,000, providing a range of Primary, Community Based and Acute Hospital Services. We also provide regional and national services across a range of clinical specialties.

The vision for the Pharmacy & Medicines Service is to deliver clinically led, person-centred services to ensure patients across Lothian get the best from their medicines and pharmacy services. We are focused on creating an environment where each person in the team has the opportunity to flourish, develop and make best use of their skills.

We are recruiting highly motivated, enthusiastic and professional Pharmacy Technicians who are able to work on an ad-hoc, flexible basis to join our pharmacy team. Short and long-term opportunities are available.

Responsibilities
  • Work with teams to provide high quality care in settings such as acute, mental health, community hospitals or primary care based within GP practices.
  • Contribute to a diverse range of services to consolidate experience and gain new knowledge and skills.
  • Be available to work on an ad-hoc basis in a demand-led service.
  • Coordinate bank shifts for services across NHS Lothian through an electronic online booking system, allowing shifts to be viewed and booked via computer or mobile device.
Qualifications
  • National Certificate in Pharmacy Services.
  • Scottish Vocational Qualification Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
  • Evidence of registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) in the application form and at point of interview.
Additional Details

Work is offered on an "as and when required" basis with different shift patterns to suit flexible working. There are no guarantees of a fixed number of hours each week as this is a demand-led service.
