Job description
Overview

Our Practice Development and Education team will support you during your preceptorship period and beyond. We offer and support all newly qualified nurses through a comprehensive Preceptorship scheme for a minimum of 12 months. When you start, you will be assigned an appropriately trained preceptor/mentor who will support you throughout your preceptorship.

We have a specialised two-week supernumerary induction programme in February/March 2026 (date to be confirmed). This provides an opportunity to meet the Clinical Educators, get to know the hospital and the NNUH team, attend workshops to enhance your clinical skills, and gain time in your department. You will have access to a transitional learning needs analysis, four bespoke CPD sessions as part of the Preceptorship Academy, and a bespoke IV drug administration day for newly qualified nurses as part of the Clinical Skills programme.

The Job Description, including a Person Specification, outlines the responsibilities and requirements for this role. Please use your supporting statement to demonstrate how you meet the person specification.

Visa and Immigration: If you require sponsorship, you can assess your eligibility for a Certificate of Sponsorship against criteria specified on gov.uk.

Travel, Parking and Transport

Staff parking is available onsite but limited during core working hours. Spaces are more available in the evening and at weekends. Allocation is based on a fair set of criteria managed by the Travel Office; a waiting list may apply if capacity is reached.

The NNUH is served by public buses, with discounted monthly passes available through First Bus and Konect. The Costessey Park and Ride operates daily and is free for NHS staff. Applications to the Travel Office are required for this service. There is also a discounted service from the airport P&R if a bundle is purchased. The NNUH hosts multiple bicycle racks and a salary sacrifice scheme; a Beryl station is onsite. If you work at another Trust site, discuss travel and parking at interview.

Compliance and Registration

DBS: If this post involves working with children or adults, the application asks for information on previous convictions as you will be required to undertake a DBS check. New employees or Staff Bank registrants may need to meet the cost unless salary is below the AFC point 9. NHS Service: We will establish any previous NHS service via ESR IAT and will accept the submission of your application as agreement to this. UK Registration: You will need current UK professional registration where required by the role.

Application Process

Following candidate feedback and to reduce our reliance on paper, all communications regarding your application will be by email. Please check your emails (and Spam) regularly. We value equality and recruit from all sections of the community. If you meet the minimum criteria and have a disability, you may be considered under the Guaranteed Interview Scheme by indicating this in the application section.

We look forward to your application. If you do not hear within four weeks, this usually means you have not been shortlisted. If you wish to confirm, please contact the person indicated on the advert.

Flexibility and Working Patterns

While we aim to recruit as advertised, there may be occasions where alternative working patterns (e.g., part-time or secondments) are considered. Please indicate any preferred working pattern in the supporting statement.
