Qualifications

Network Engineer

Location: Bracknell (BRA01)

Due to the nature of our support requirements this is an office-based role.

Providing operational support to a large enterprise network that runs 24/7 across two data centers and remote offices throughout the UK. You will collaborate with the rest of the team to maintain on premise networks to support BAU activities, perform network configuration changes, upgrades and liaise with third parties and other internal teams. This is an exceptional opportunity to grow your existing networking career and skills across multiple vendor products and technologies and look to grow your knowledge and confidence by working closely with other higher graded engineers within the team. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in project-based work, as you will be working closely with the project team. Additionally, you will provide technical direction and mentoring to the 2nd‑line network team.

Your experience:
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of core routing and switching at JNCIA/CCNA level
  • Hands‑on experience in troubleshooting enterprise networks
  • Good understanding of IP routing (BGP, OSPF, static routing, HSRP, VRRP, VRF, tunneling protocols)
  • Good understanding of Layer 2 technologies (VLANs, port-security, 802.1X, spanning‑tree)
  • Experience working with Cisco IOS and JUNOS
Desirable
  • Working knowledge of firewalls – Cisco Firepower and Cisco ASA
  • Working knowledge of High‑Level encryption
  • Understanding of Juniper Apstra & Data Centre protocols – VXLAN, EVPN and ESI‑LAG
  • Working knowledge of F5 Load Balancers
  • Understanding of Cisco ISE Appliance
  • Understanding of cross domain platforms

Due to the role requirements you will need to be eligible and willing to obtain a high level of security clearance.

Expected working

Our hours of support are Monday to Friday 08:00 – 18:00 to fulfil 37 hours per week. This could be on an early or late start, rotated as directed by service delivery/team lead.

Out of Hours cover is required, providing on‑call assistance 24x7 on a rotating basis, typically 1 week in 4. The ability to attend the office would be required during this period should the issue warrant it.
