Network Algorithm Systems Engineer / Southampton / 53.50 per hour PAYE

Our client is seeking a Network Algorithm Systems Engineer to support cutting-edge research into the future of airborne mesh networks. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on innovative projects that push the boundaries of network design and communications technology. You\'ll be part of a collaborative team, working alongside subcontractors and partners to explore novel networking algorithms and simulation techniques. The role offers a mix of technical challenge, strategic thinking, and the chance to make a real impact in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and evaluate different approaches to airborne mesh network design.
  • Analyse and adapt network protocols and routing algorithms to meet specific project needs.
  • Design and run simulations using third-party or bespoke tools.
  • Interpret results and propose improvements to network architecture.
  • Contribute to standardisation efforts and technical documentation.
What We\'re Looking For
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols and their roles within the stack.
  • Ability to design meaningful experiments and interpret complex data.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present ideas clearly to varied audiences.
  • This is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above. The most important skill is a good attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Must be eligible to undertake security vetting to SC level.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Experience researching novel networking algorithms.
  • Familiarity with network simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices.
  • Understanding of wireless communications.

This is a 6 month temporary role with the potential to extend.

Site based 37 hours per week with an early finish on a Friday.
