Overview

Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer – Oxfordshire (Haddenham, Aylesbury)

Shift pattern: double day shift 06:00–14:00 wk1 / 13:45–22:00 wk2

Responsibilities
  • First level escalation of breakdowns within the factory; work as part of the shift engineering team to fix breakdowns promptly in line with priorities. Breakdowns include mechanical, electrical and controls.
  • Completion of preventative maintenance works orders.
  • Attend Daily Engineering meetings and input on safety, quality and operational KPIs where appropriate.
  • Cover Senior Shift Engineers in DDS meetings in collaboration with operations and quality teams.
  • Record all work in CMMS and ensure correct parts are booked out; execute planned maintenance activities with the Engineering Team Leader; ensure spare parts are available and coordinate with stores as required.
  • Report in writing on shift issues and ensure successful handover to the oncoming shift’s Senior Engineer.
  • Contractor control with appropriate risk assessments, LOTO procedures and permit procedures as required.
  • Ensure PPM schedules and work orders are completed within agreed time frames; close out breakdowns where necessary and advise on parts required.
  • After maintenance, ensure equipment is serviceable and ready for production.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Time served Engineer – minimum NVQ 3 UK electrical or mechanical (or equivalent).
  • Solid experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment (preferably in food or consumer products).
  • Strong general electrical and/or mechanical engineering skills and fault-finding abilities.
  • Awareness of HACCP, PUWER, LOLER and COSHH.
  • Effective team player; able to work on own initiative and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • PC literate (Office 365).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and fault-find within a production facility; good written and verbal communication; able to communicate with suppliers and internal customers.
  • Ability to interpret schematic diagrams; logical thinker and problem solver; energetic, organized and able to plan to a timescale.
