Overview
Job Title: Multi-Skilled Fitter - Mechanical & Electrical
Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
Hours & Pay: 40 hours per week - Day shift; GBP35K per annum
Responsibilities
- Mechanical Assembly & Installation
- Build and assemble machinery such as conveyors, case/box/tray erectors, palletisers, and handling systems.
- Fit mechanical components: gearboxes, bearings, drive systems, structural frames.
- Electrical Wiring & Integration
- Wire and connect control panels, motors, sensors, actuators, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and proper cable routing.
- Commissioning & Testing
- Execute mechanical and electrical commissioning of automated systems.
- Perform functional testing, alignment checks, issue diagnostics, and handover.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Conduct planned maintenance and breakdown repairs.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, implement corrective actions.
- Documentation & Collaboration
- Complete installation and service reports, wiring diagrams, and checklists.
- Coordinate with design, control systems, robotics, and customer support teams.
- Health & Safety Compliance
- Follow strict health, safety, and quality procedures in workshop and site environments.
- Engage in risk assessments and learnings to improve safety protocols.
Candidate Profile
Skills & Experience:
- Qualified fitter or equivalent with proven mechanical and electrical hands-on experience.
- Competency in reading engineering drawings, electrical schematics (PLC, motor, sensor circuits), and mechanical blueprints.
- Skilled in fitting mechanical systems and wiring electronics/instrumentation.
