Overview

Job Title: Multi-Skilled Fitter - Mechanical & Electrical

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

Hours & Pay: 40 hours per week - Day shift; GBP35K per annum

Responsibilities
  • Mechanical Assembly & Installation
    • Build and assemble machinery such as conveyors, case/box/tray erectors, palletisers, and handling systems.
    • Fit mechanical components: gearboxes, bearings, drive systems, structural frames.
  • Electrical Wiring & Integration
    • Wire and connect control panels, motors, sensors, actuators, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
    • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and proper cable routing.
  • Commissioning & Testing
    • Execute mechanical and electrical commissioning of automated systems.
    • Perform functional testing, alignment checks, issue diagnostics, and handover.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting
    • Conduct planned maintenance and breakdown repairs.
    • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, implement corrective actions.
  • Documentation & Collaboration
    • Complete installation and service reports, wiring diagrams, and checklists.
    • Coordinate with design, control systems, robotics, and customer support teams.
  • Health & Safety Compliance
    • Follow strict health, safety, and quality procedures in workshop and site environments.
    • Engage in risk assessments and learnings to improve safety protocols.
Candidate Profile

Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified fitter or equivalent with proven mechanical and electrical hands-on experience.
  • Competency in reading engineering drawings, electrical schematics (PLC, motor, sensor circuits), and mechanical blueprints.
  • Skilled in fitting mechanical systems and wiring electronics/instrumentation.
