JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 56 year old man living in the Pontypridd area with my mother and I receive support from my current PA.

I have interests in motorbikes, heavy metal music, carpentry and joinery.

I have a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis which affects my mobility and dexterity and I require a wheelchair to get around.

I am looking for another PA to help support me as I now have extra hours and they can cover my other PA when he is off.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The job is mainly to support with my personal care around the house and to provide my mother with some respite.

The job could also include taking me out into the community and to engage socially.

HOURS OF WORK

This job will be 5 hours and 45 minutes per week and to cover my other PA when he is on annual leave.

The 5.75 hours will be worked in the afternoons, evenings and on a Sunday.

RATES OF PAY

£12.80 per hour

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

· Helping me with my morning routine, getting dressed etc.

· Supporting me with getting washed.

· Supporting me with going to the toilet.

· Prompting me to take my tablets.

· Helping me transfer in and out of my wheelchair.

· Potentially taking me out into the community.

· Sitting with me and ensuring my safety when my mother goes out for some respite.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

· A reliable and punctual person.

· Someone with flexibility to help cover my main PA when needed.

· A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home.

· A proactive person.

· A car driver is preferred.

ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
