Job summary

A prestigious museum organization is seeking a Project Manager to oversee the management of complex collection access projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, stakeholder engagement, and proven experience with complex collections. Job description
Project Management

Scope, plan, and schedule collection access, ensuring accountability during movement and storage.

Act as deputy for the Head of Movement and Storage in project meetings.

Manage operational delivery of collection access through the Collections Hub, van runs, and filming requests.

Lead and manage documentation, movement, and storage projects to improve policies, procedures, and systems.

Monitor and report on project progress, quality, and resource requirements.

Support tender processes by providing accurate data and liaising with stakeholders.

Supervise external contractors and ensure safe movement and storage of hazardous or licensed collections.

Team and Operational Management

Line manage and coach staff to deliver efficient, compliant work.

Who we are looking for
  • Relevant postgraduate or Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects and/or collection access, with strong understanding of scheduling and budgeting.
  • Experience in staff, stakeholder, and contractor management.
  • High-level IT skills, including museum collections management databases, MS Project, Word, and Excel.
  • Willingness to travel and work across IWM branches.
  • Knowledge of providing access to collections in complex environments.
  • Experience with government tender processes.
  • Understanding of best practice in Collections Management and Care.
  • Ability to create and manipulate accurate data for workflow processes.
  • Experience in museum storage and collection movement management.
  • Clear and tactful communicator with professional presence.
