A regional music education service is seeking passionate teachers to deliver interactive sessions aboard the Mobile Music Vehicle. The role requires creativity and the ability to engage groups of students, contributing to their musical, personal, and social development. Applicants should possess a music degree and strong proficiency in music or a related field. Flexible working hours with opportunities for additional paid roles are available.
LMS are looking to recruit teachers to deliver ad hoc sessions aboard the award‑winning Mobile Music Vehicle (MMV). More information about the MMV can be found here: https://www.lancashiremusichub.co.uk/site/schools/lancashire-mobile-music-vehicle/
The vehicle operates year‑round and visits schools, community groups, libraries and festivals. LMS teachers deliver sessions aboard the vehicle to small groups of students, typically between 5–8 students at a time. Sessions offered are dependent on the skills of the teacher aboard, and we want to develop new sessions with String Explorer, wellbeing and recording studio options. The following sessions are currently available: Instrument discovery, Sound Yard composition sessions, Music technology, Brass Explorers, Woodwind Explorers, Early Years.
This academic year we are particularly looking to cover Mondays to Thursdays. School bookings are for 5 hours and usually run from 9 am to 3 pm with 1 hour for lunch (which is unpaid time). The students are often trying out instruments and technology for the first time, and a amount of enthusiasm and energy is required to make their visit to the MMV really enjoyable and memorable.
The MMV will only be out in the community when it has been booked, and you will liaise with our driver Alex regarding details of bookings. You are not paid when there isn't a booking. Therefore, this opportunity will suit people with some flexibility who don’t necessarily need to work and be paid every week of our 34‑week academic year or in holiday periods. There could be additional ad‑hoc paid opportunities to support service needs and events.
Teachers will develop the musical, personal and creative potential of young musicians, bringing all the benefits that a quality music education offers young people’s individual and social development. They will be responsible for working across the county to deliver LMS's mission statements and our objectives under the National Plan for Music Education.
Please email in your CV and why you think you are suitable for the role.
