Overview

MIG/TIG Welder, Daventry, full-time (Monday - Thursday 7:00–17:15 and Friday 7:00–13:00). £15.50 - £16.50 per hour (£36,270 - £38,610 annually). Our Daventry-based client has over 50 years of manufacturing experience in fabricated metal products. They are looking for experienced MIG/TIG welders to join them on a permanent basis. They supply to automotive, agriculture, bus and yellow metal goods and general engineering businesses. The production welder positions involve working on a variety of components and reading engineering drawings; the majority of welding will be on mild steel.

Responsibilities
  • Set, operate and maintain the MIG and TIG welding machines and related tools and equipment.
  • MIG welding with mild steel mainly.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to lay out a welding project.
  • Test and inspect welded surfaces to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
  • Use measuring instruments such as micrometres and calipers to inspect the parts.
  • Diagnose issues and troubleshoot as required.
  • General fabrication duties such as cutting and smoothing metal components, using plasma cutters and portable grinders; bore holes through metal work pieces using a drill press.
  • Meet production deadlines.
  • Report any faults found to the Production Supervisors.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety legislation at all times.
