A top-performing healthcare trust in the UK is seeking a midwife to join their leadership team on a fixed-term basis. The successful candidate will lead high-quality care in the maternity inpatient area and support nursing staff. This role emphasizes compassionate patient care, evidence-based practices, and effective workforce management. We have an opportunity for a midwife to join our well established leadership team on a 12-month fixed-term secondment. The successful candidate will lead and be responsible for the delivery of high‑quality care and the patient experience in the maternity inpatient area through proactive clinical and professional leadership to nursing and midwifery staff at all levels within their area of responsibility.
The post holder will need to ensure the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based, compassionate nursing and midwifery care, and that the workforce is managed effectively and efficiently. The post holder will also ensure that ward managers have adequate support to enable them to focus on their core responsibilities.
In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing implementation of the Trust’s nursing, midwifery and corporate objectives, developing the service and nursing/midwifery roles to meet the evolving needs of patients and families. The individual will undertake the key functions of the Matron role, ensuring the patient experience in maternity inpatients is of the highest possible standard at all times, with particular emphasis on the provision of dignified and compassionate care, which is delivered in a safe and clean environment.
The post holder will work with the Divisional Nurse / Head of Midwifery and the Senior Management Team in developing and implementing a divisional strategy to achieve the Trust’s objectives and to ensure that effective governance arrangements are implemented and maintained. The candidate will also provide professional leadership and line management to senior Nursing/Midwifery staff including ward and departmental Sisters & Charge Nurses / Midwives, Clinical Nurse / Midwifery Specialists and Advanced Practitioners.
