We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Band 6 Midwife to join our dedicated maternity team within the Children, Young People and Families Services Directorate. Based at MPH, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, equitable, and personalised maternal and neonatal care across antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled midwife who is passionate about promoting choice, advocating for women and birthing people, and ensuring the highest standards of care. This 12‑month fixed‑term contract offers full‑time and part‑time positions, allowing flexibility to suit your work‑life balance.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, evidence‑based midwifery care throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods, supporting physiological birth and managing complex cases when required.
  • Act as an advocate for women/birthing people, promoting informed choice and individualised care, while responding appropriately to emergencies.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and maintain accurate documentation in maternity records and IT systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team and participate in the on‑call rota across both hospital and community settings.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to students and junior staff, and contribute to quality assurance activities such as audits and incident reporting.
