Job description

We are looking for an experienced 3D Motion Designer, working primarily with Houdini and Redshift, to deliver high-quality creative output across a variety of client accounts and platforms. Working collaboratively with the Film and Animation team, this role supports projects from concept to completion and brings strong technical craft, curiosity and creative problem-solving to production. The 3D Motion Designer will contribute to evolving tools and workflows, testing and applying new approaches where they add value, helping keep our work adaptable, future-ready and creatively ambitious.

Responsibilities
  • Working closely with Directors, Designers, Animators, and Producers to provide hands‑on 3D Motion Design and Animation with conceptual flare, and the ability to deliver across a range of platforms and visual styles.
  • Work as part of the team to explore briefs and to develop creative concepts that align with client objectives and brand guidelines.
  • Contribute to the development, preparation and delivery of creative proposals and pitches, generating style frames, storyboards and motion tests.
  • To work closely with creative teams to deliver creative programmes or projects as a team member, but also with initiative and autonomy to carry a project forward.
  • You’ll work on several projects at once, working with other members of the RY team and specialist partners and freelance staff.
  • Encourage and support other members of the RY team in their understanding and use of Motion Design and Animation and to work with them as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other Designers and Animators, as well as the Producers.
  • Keep up to date with latest visual trends and developments in the Motion Design and Animation industry.
  • You’ll have a Minimum 2 to 3 years relevant experience and a future‑focused mindset that actively embraces new and emerging tools to evolve our creative processes while maintaining the highest standards of craft and quality.
Technical expert
  • Taking an active role across the full life cycle of 3D Motion Design and Animation, from concept to delivery.
  • A deep creative and technical understanding of the 3D design process, including composition, colour, lighting, materials, and motion.
  • Advanced level of creative and technical experience with Houdini and Redshift, bringing a high level of craftmanship and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Cinema 4D and X Particles is desirable.
  • Proficient technical knowledge of the Adobe Suite, especially After Effects.
  • Experience of CG compositing (AE) and good understanding of general postproduction processes.

  • Helps and supports colleagues working to tight timeframes and have a level of flexibility to ensure work is done within the deadline.
