Inspire a Love of Languages at The Prebendal School

The Prebendal School – the oldest school in Sussex, set in the beautiful Cathedral precincts at the heart of Chichester – is seeking an enthusiastic and talented MFL Teacher to join our warm, vibrant and highly supportive school community from April 2026. This is a full‑time maternity cover opportunity for a passionate linguist who can ignite curiosity, confidence and joy in learning French and/or Spanish.

About the Role and You

Contract type: Full Time, Maternity Cover (1 year)
Salary: Dependent on experience
Start date: April 2026

Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, high‑quality language lessons to pupils.
  • Foster a love of languages through purposeful, creative and child‑centred learning experiences.
  • Plan well‑structured, progressive learning sequences that stretch and support all pupils.
  • Use assessment effectively to ensure strong pupil progress.
  • Build warm, supportive relationships with pupils and families.
  • Contribute positively to our caring, collaborative staff team.
  • Support the wider life of the school, including events, clubs or trips where appropriate.
  • Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge, strong classroom practice, and the ability to inspire pupils of varying ages and abilities.
About You
  • A fluent linguist (Spanish essential; French desirable).
  • Qualified to teach with QTS, PGCE or equivalent.
  • Experienced with children aged 3‑11.
  • Creative, enthusiastic and child‑focused in approach.
  • Warm, professional and collaborative.
  • Passionate about helping every child thrive academically and personally.
