Overview

Metallurgy Postgraduate Lab Technician – Worcester (WR4) | Salary: up to £13.50 - £15/hr (DOE) | Flexible hours (9am – 3pm) or full-time available | Monday – Friday

We are seeking a highly motivated Metallurgy postgraduate to join a growing laboratory team in Worcester. This role offers the opportunity to apply advanced academic knowledge in a practical setting, with a strong focus on materials hardness testing and analysis.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Performing hardness testing on a range of metallic materials using recognised techniques and equipment
  • Preparing and analysing metallurgical samples, recording accurate data, and maintaining detailed laboratory records
  • Supporting wider metallurgical testing and analysis projects as required
  • Reporting results clearly and contributing to problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Adhering to strict health, safety, and quality standards at all times
What we’re looking for:
  • Postgraduate qualification (MSc / PhD) in Metallurgy or Materials Science (essential)
  • Previous laboratory experience (academic or industrial)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
